On April 30, 2017, NEXT for AUTISM joined forces with SoulCycle in Manhattan to host our first ever, NEXT for AUTISM Power Pedal fundraiser. Sixty one supporters mounted stationary bikes and rode their hearts out for autism. They sweated and cried together while cycling to raise funds for the cutting-edge programs that NEXT for AUTISM creates and supports for people with autism and their families.
Among the riders were parents, siblings, aunts, cousins, therapists, doctors, lawyers, friends, colleagues and friends of friends of people with autism. We even had one awesome young man with autism who pedaled along with us. It was an amazingly inspiring event, led by SoulCycle founding instructor Laurie Cole. We made friends and built community, and proved our belief that “Someone You Know Loves Someone with Autism.”
Based on the success of the first event, our NEXT Gen Board organized its own Power Pedal several months later. The second event was as well attended as the first, and this time, by siblings, cousins, friends and supporters whose enthusiasm matched their commitment to raise funds for our NEXT for AUTISM.
Thanks to generous underwriting by friends of NEXT for AUTISM, nearly 100% of the funds raised from both events went directly to creating programs and opportunities for individuals with autism and their families. Please check back to find out about our future events.
