Position Location: New York, NY
Reports to: SVP Operations
Job Summary:
The Vice President of Major Gifts will lead the implementation of a strategic and aggressive major gifts plan, focusing on creative, thoughtful and meaningful engagement with high net worth individuals. Joining NEXT for AUTISM in our 16th year, the VP of Major Gifts is a newly established position that will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a portfolio of principal gifts (six figure plus) and high net worth prospects. The VP of Major Gifts will support and collaborate closely with the President, Leadership team, board leadership and will partner with the SVP, operations and outside consultants on the overall development strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the President, SVP, Operations, and staff to implement a comprehensive strategy for the overall Major Gifts program and maintain a portfolio of major gift funders and prospects;
- Manage relationships for current and prospective major funders and lead all aspects of the gift cycle in coordination with the SVP, Operations and President;
- Work closely with the President and senior leadership to steward meaningful relationships with high net worth funders and prospects;
- Responsible for overseeing and achieving major gift annual revenue targets;
- Serve as a member of the leadership team and key partner in the overall development department strategic planning process, annual budget preparation, goal setting and donor activities;
- Oversee and prepare all communications materials required to support the major gifts program in coordination with the SVP, Operations, President and Director of Communications such as (but not limited to) Executive Leadership communications, research, proposals, updates, acknowledgement materials, campaign marketing materials, database profiles;
- Ensure a detailed tracking system for all data management including proposals and giving history;
- Oversee all major gift meetings and donor engagement events and activities;
- Participate in weekly progress meetings and regular strategy calls;
- Clear understanding and commitment to NEXT for AUTISM’s mission.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred;
- 10 or more years of relevant major gifts experience;
- Successful track record of soliciting and closing five and six figure gifts;
- Deep attention to detail with superior verbal and written communication skills;
- Sound judgment, professionalism and positive attitude;
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and manage,
- Fundraising database experience required;
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;
- Experience working with staff, executives and board members
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint – knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus
- Flexibility to work outside of job description parameters if needed
